Laser Skin Rejuvenation – NLite-Regenlite (Palo Alto)

26 Procedures ( View All )

Overview

Non-ablative laser skin rejuvenation is a treatment that uses light energy to stimulate natural collagen growth and remove irregular pigmentation. Skin irregularities such as facial redness (rosacea), acne scarring, facial spots and veins, fine lines and wrinkles can be treated with various non-ablative techniques. Our Palo Alto office uses NLite-Regenlite to help patients achieve smooth, younger looking skin. Some patients may benefit from a varied approach known as laser skin resurfacing. During the initial consultation, Dr. Schendel will assess the skin and make a recommendation as to which treatment will produce the best results to meet the patient’s aesthetic goals.

Procedure Technique

Laser skin rejuvenation is different from laser skin resurfacing, where the top layer of skin is stripped. Rejuvenation treatment using a more gentle laser method uses the laser’s light to pass through the upper layer of skin, allowing its heat to stimulate collagen growth deep beneath the skin. While the skin is not stripped and removed, the collagen will continue to multiply after the treatment. Over the course of a few weeks and months, the body will regenerate enough collagen to naturally fill in wrinkles, lines and scars. The result is a fuller, smoother, younger looking appearance.

During/After Surgery

Laser skin rejuvenation using a technology such as NLite takes place in our office, usually in under 30 minutes. Once the procedure is completed, patients can resume their normal activities. The treated area may appear red for several hours, but patients may apply makeup right away to cover this. In the majority of cases, multiple treatment sessions may be needed. Because this laser skin treatment does not injure the outer layer of skin, there is no prolonged healing process. While the results take longer to see, positive outcomes have been consistently noted using this treatment method.

Expected Cost

The cost for laser skin rejuvenation varies. The average cost (for a treatment such as NLite can range between $350-$650, and up to $1,000 (per treatment session).

Laser Skin Rejuvenation FAQs

Real Results?

While this procedure does not produce immediate results, such as the ablative methods, the outcomes that have been reported are good. Regenerated collagen smoothens the skins surface over time, creating subtle, noticeable results. Additional treatments can be scheduled as needed for continued improvement.

Ablative or Non-Ablative?

Both ablative and non-ablative procedures provide great results. One is not necessarily better than the other, they just have varying degrees of intensity and recovery. Both techniques provide nice results. During your initial consultation, we will discuss which is best for you. Factors include the patient’s aesthetic goals, skin type and how much downtime can be tolerated.

Side Effects?

Laser skin rejuvenation does not create peeling skin, scabs or a sunburn type effect as a resurfacing treatment would. Patients will experience mild redness, moderate itching and possibly some very light peeling. But overall, the side effects with this procedure are very mild and no downtime is required.
